Cell Phones in the Classroom

Today we have our final quiz and presentation. Also you have your story due by the end of the day and your final table with the rated sites.

When we started this course almost four months ago you all signed a contract that you agreed with the syllabus. One of the policies in the syllabus was no cell phone use in class. Many of you abided by this but others did not. Next semester I have many of you in class again so I have decided to adopt this professors NO TEXTING policy and the consequences.
NO TEXTING

Today in class for our final quiz you will be able to use your cell phone to take the quiz.

Author Author

As you may already know I am not very creative and some of you may feel the same way. In your future role as an educator you will encounter a range of creativity, For some of us that struggle with creativity we can now use tools to help us find our inner creative self, just like those who can not do basic calculations have a calculator.

You are going to all become authors in this class and produce a great children's book. Your stories will be based on Knife River Indian Villages. I know you are not going there for a week but we are going to start preparing by looking at the tools. You will need to spend some time looking at internet tools and applications that can help you write a story. Here are a few I want you to look at http://www.lulu.com/, http://storybird.com/, http://vimeo.com. Some of the IPad applications are C. Collins Big Cat and StoryMakerHD. Make sure you add the sites you look at to your chart.

CHALLENGE!!!!

In most fields they have a terminology and acronyms that are pertinent to that occupation. We have had the opportunity to look at some examples from technology. If we don't know something there are a number of ways to find out what it is but the most popular one is to "Google it" or use other electronic resources. I challenged you to find out what a CV was and write one the other day and you did great.
Your next challenge should you choose to accept it is to find out what UDL means (an educational term). Send me a brief description of UDL including what the acronym means. This is a technique that I am going to use for your final project.
